Every single PC or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse and a printer, together with any applications that are installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each application runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. In case a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you can set up a different software environment on a single machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

Our virtual private server plans include three Linux releases that you could select from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being absolutely free, the OSs are really stable and safe and the main reason to offer all 3 of them is to ensure that you'll be able to run each application that you'd like, because different pieces of software may have different requirements about the environment they can be used on. Each of the three OSs is backed by a vast community of developers who have created a large number of software packages which you can install and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System that you choose, you will also be able to choose between 3 different Control Panels to manage your hosting content. Also, if you decide that you need a different OS, we can always re-install the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for max stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

In case you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on the machine as different apps could have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and benefit from a stable and risk-free Internet hosting service. Based on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System if the one you've selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you'd like to run. We can also update the OS regularly in order to keep it as secure as possible with our Managed Services upgrade package.
